It will not go easy anymore!
12 april 2022, PaulIt’s Thursday and that means I’m going to write an article or blog; something I’ve been doing since 2004. But how did this come about?
I started when State Secretary Wijn thought it normal that private individuals should pay 518% more road tax for their company cars. I felt this was a bomb under a business model, but I was wrong. I was guilty of focusing too much on a market that apparently wasn’t as steadfast as it first seemed. The lobby of the Bovag was so weak at the time and that was the reason for me to write my first blog. What was useful is that, then and now, I write more easily when I’m frustrated, and a habit was born. At the time, it wasn’t called content or influencer marketing yet, but that economic dip certainly gave me new opportunities.

The influence of the situation in Ukraine/Russia
The grim events happening make it hard for me to write anything about following up leads and how to do it better. That said, you will still have to hone those skills…..but the world is now and will, in the future, be different. It’s not going to be as easy as the last, say, 18 months. What is happening now in Russia and Ukraine has an impact; an impact in the sense that it concerns me 24/7. But let’s be honest, we stand on the sidelines and watch and often give money to charity. But I am not participating in the conflict, and that makes me feel uncomfortable.
However this aggression ends, even if there is a ceasefire, there will still be an impact in the automotive industry for years. Everything will become more expensive in terms of energy and materials, which means an uncertain economic time, in which you MUST do better.
Take your leads more seriously than ever in this time
If you think you can hold your own with mid-range efforts and results despite the headwind, that’s your decision, but I prefer to develop myself and my company to a 10. The number of opportunities will decrease. This also applies to leads. You really have to score better, especially in this time. A percentage of 13% as an absolute minimum on all online opportunities is too low, it must and can be higher. Plenty of dealers have illustrated that but the seller who thinks it will take time, that time has come…
