Why Apple Maps is important for car companies!

I myself am an avid user of Apple CarPlay, I don’t know why, but it just works well. In my previous car, a Jaguar F-Pace, I had an insanely large screen and fantastic navigation. But then came an update that made the navigation compatible with Apple CarPlay. Since then, I have never used the factory navigation again. I was sold!

Usability

In the Sprinter that we use for the shop, I also opted for a large navigation screen with CarPlay. Also here the factory navigation is fantastic. This way you have voice control by saying “hey Mercedes.” Despite this, I find Apple CarPlay to be the most user-friendly. This way, I also have the same navigation in every car!

Apple Maps: From Point A to Point B for IL Fienile (my wife’s shop)

When we go on long shopping trips, I always use Apple Maps for navigation to the stores. To get from Point A to Point B, I have different choices: Mercedes Navigation, Waze, Google Maps, Flitsmeister Maps but also Apple Maps. However, I use the latter option. The issue I have with Waze is that I can’t zoom out. This is possible with Apple Maps and Maps. If I also turn on Flitsmeister, I’m ready to go!

The advantage of Google Maps

Google Maps has the advantage of containing more information. When we are on the road, we mainly look for flea market traders. Almost all of them have some kind of website or Google My Business. In short, searching for certain specific locations via Google Maps is much better.

Now that the development of Apple CarPlay and Apple Maps/Maps continues as it is now, it is important as a company to have your Apple business listings ready there as well, just like with Google Maps. Because let’s face it, every iPhone has these apps on it!

But how do you do this? You can only do this with your Apple ID. But watch out! This must be a business ID, so that, for example, an employee cannot take it with him. Previously, Yelp reviews for Apple Maps were a big indicator that there was a business here. The better those reviews, the more likely your business will be found. I can’t look inside Apple right now, but the ability to edit your information yourself will motivate the forward-thinking auto companies to optimize this listing. Only then can you navigate to your car dealership via Apple CarPlay without any friction.
